The name of the international website is ACEI- Association for Childhood Education International

This international website focuses on providing quality education worldwide, so that those children receiving can make a difference in the world, or just the community they live in.
The article that caught my attention was that of "International Mother Language Day". ACEI supported the UNESCO mission to promote multilingualism, encouraging the society to have a greater awareness of linguistic a cultural traditions. Through this day being acknowledge it also others to realize there are others of different cultures and languages whom they have to be better equipped to communicate with.
Kiendra,
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed learning about ACEI and what they do. Like the article that caught your attention, I have also noticed in my classroom and in chatting with colleagues in the school where I teach about the need to promote mother language. An example is a child in my class who kept on arguing that his language is English when I asked him to teach us a song in his language. A lot of children I have come in contact with in Nigeria don't understand their mother language whereas children from France or South Africa can communicate in French or Afrikaans. Thanks for sharing.
Kiendra,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to learn about other cultures. This seems like a wonderful organization and one I am eager to learn more about. Being culturally competent, is an important quality as an educator in order to be respectful and responsive while working with families.
